“This is an outstanding list of creative people. I am sure Brooching the Subject: One-of-Kind, will be an eye-opener and a treat for all who attend during the exhibition time,” says renowned jewelry artist Robert Ebendorf.
“This exhibition presents the work of many of the outstanding names in the studio art jewelry movement. The components of art jewelry are not limited to and often do not include precious metals or stones but rather incorporate found objects, plastics (including plastic toys), stainless steel, enamel, wool, porcelain, glass, gold leaf, semi-precious stones, bronze, paper— limited only by the artist’s imagination,” says Jan Katz, Curator of the Center for Southern Craft and Design.
Katz continues, “Whether prized for their sculptural or narrative quality, or for their singular beauty, rather than the value of their materials, these one-of-a-kind brooches are meant to be worn, and I believe, will appeal to anyone who loves art, jewelry and the perfect piece to wear on a favorite black dress or jacket.”
