MIAMI, FL.- Photo Miami, the premiere fair for contemporary photography, video and new media, will return for its 5th edition December 1-5, 2010, coinciding with Art Basel Miami Beach. With a strong emphasis on global diversity, the critically curated fair will present work by hundreds of artists represented by galleries from North and South America, Europe, and Asia. There will be an exclusive VIP opening on Tuesday, November 30, with a Press Preview from 4–6 PM and Opening Night Reception from 6–10 PM at 3401 North Miami Avenue, Miami, Florida.

“I am thrilled to be directing Photo Miami for a second year,” said Managing Director Charles Guice. “Strong, clear vision is what’s most important in the art market now. I know viewers will be very pleased with the high caliber of work that we are presenting. The clean, modern interior design of Photo Miami will allow our audiences to experience the work in a great looking, professional environment, conducive to the business of art.”

“Photo Miami will be a smart, well organized fair, offering collectors, curators and the general public a chance to see the best contemporary photo-based art,” added Artistic Director and Head Curator Brookie Maxwell. “The Lyrical and Profane” embraces two curatorial themes: art that transgresses and transcends, and the nexus of art and fashion.”

New galleries at Photo Miami will include LMAKprojects from New York with work by Penelope Umbrico. Umbirco has exhibited at PS1/MoMA, as well as the International Center of Photography (ICP), and her work is featured in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Also new this year is Patricia Conde, Galería from Mexico City, who will present work that blends cutting-edge experimenters like Fernando Montiel, Geraldo Montiel Klint and Tristan Reyes with leading professionals like Federico Gama.

Galerie Annie Gentils from Antwerp will showcase the work of Els Vanden Meersch. Vanden Meersch’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at The Museum Vander Kelen-Mertens in Belgium and The Ernst Museum in Budapest.
