Science Museum Stages Egyptian Makeup Workshop at April Lates
LONDON.- The Science Museum will stage an Egyptian style makeup workshop at its next Lates evening on Wednesday 28 April. The workshop is one of the highlights of the programme, which celebrates the science of beauty through a series of fun and interactive workshops, talks and other activities.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to view rare and beautiful items from the Wellcome collection of personal care – showing how beauty accessories and techniques have changed throughout history.
Other activities include science experiments from L’Oréal’s Young Scientist Centre and an introduction to research and development in cosmetic science.

One of the highlights of the evening will be a panel debate asking “Why does beauty matter?. The panel will be chaired by journalist Alice Hart-Davis and will feature experts from the beauty, health and science industries. During the session, the audience will have a chance to put questions to the panel.
In addition, visitors can listen to a talk by acclaimed astronomer, Jocelyn Bell Burnell and see the Science Museum’s female drama characters portray leading female figures from history including computer pioneer Ada Lovelace, astronomer Caroline Herschel and nurse Mary Seacole.
Visitors can enjoy the usual packed programme of Lates activities including:
• Silent Disco: Pick up a pair of headphones, tune in and get down to your own sounds under the rockets in our Exploring Space gallery.
• The Lates Pub Quiz: Get competitive in this (soon to be legendary) Lates ‘pub quiz’.
• Brass rubbings: People can brass rub their own images of the famous Centenary icons in our Making the Modern World gallery.
• Launchpad: The interactive gallery for big kids (for Lates nights only!) and hotspot of all Science Museum Lates
