Uffizi Virtuale, A new experience with art at Shangai Art Museum
Shanghai.- The masterpieces of Italian art arrive at Shanghai Art Museum from the world-famous Uffizi Gallery. Uffizi Virtuale suggests an interactive itinerary within the Uffizi Gallery Collection.
Nine multimedia installations, each with large format touch screen interface, will be showing one masterpiece after another. By touching the screen, visitors will be able to examine every particular and zoom in to see the most hidden detail up to the point of perceiving the artist’s brush strokes, be it Botticelli or Caravaggio, Titian or Leonardo.
The visit is thus transformed into a unique visual and interactive experience.
“The viewer can navigate each masterpiece, always perfectly in focus, up to the most minute details: the impalpable transparency of a veil, fog in a distant landscape, delicate gold leaf applied to the borders or rays.”
The tenth installation, Uffizi Touch®, gathers the whole collection of Florence’s Uffizi Gallery. Uffizi Touch® is the world’s first product to encapsulate the entire Uffizi Gallery in a digital interactive “painting” acquired with extremely high resolution images.
The digital images used in presenting the works of art are the result of a long digital acquisition process originated from advanced technology developed by Centrica, Hitachi and MICC (Media Integration and Communication Center) in collaboration with Soprintendenza Speciale per Patrimonio Storico, Artistico e Etnoantropologico e per il Polo Museale della Città di Firenze.
The exhibition catalogue edited by Centrica and containing all the paintings with a selection of minute details of interest, will be presented during the press conference.
Organizers: Shanghai Art Museum, Centrica and Toscana Promozione With the support of: Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, Office Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, Shanghai International Culture Association, Italian Commissioner General for EXPO.
Curator: Cristina Acidini, Soprintendente per il Patrimonio Storico, Artistico ed Etnoantropologico e per il Polo Museale della città di Firenze.
