NEW YORK, NY.- The Art Show, the nation’s foremost and longest running fine art fair, announces the dates for its 26th edition, which will take place March 5 through March 9, 2014, with a Gala Preview on March 4. Organized by the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) to benefit Henry Street Settlement, the 26th annual Art Show will once again present thoughtfully curated solo, two-person, and thematic exhibitions by the nation’s leading art dealers and galleries.
Dorsey Waxter, ADAA’s President remarked on the qualities that distinguish The Art Show among art fairs, “Given the proliferation of art fairs, ADAA’s fair remains unique. Whether it is a solo or two-person show, or a thematic presentation, each booth at The Art Show is a finely curated exhibition. ADAA dealers conceive and install significant exhibits at our fair and use it as an opportunity to advance their gallery’s vision.”
Art Show Chairman, Adam Sheffer, remarked “ADAA’s Art Show broke new ground in producing a stellar art fair in New York City 26 years ago. Today, The Art Show continues to be an ideal venue for New Yorkers and visitors alike to connect with artist and their dealers and purchase exquisite works of art.” The 2014 Art Show leads a contingent of art fairs around New York City such as The Armory Show, VOLTA, and SCOPE, which also take place during the same week.
The Art Show’s considered, curated exhibitions present a dynamic selection of artworks—juxtaposing modern masters and cutting edge contemporary works in exhibitions from galleries all over the country. As in recent years, the 2014 Art Show will include a number of groundbreaking solo exhibitions, such as: Fairfield Porter at Hirschl & Adler Modern, Sean Kelly Gallery’s presentation of new paintings by Kehinde Wiley, vintage works by Frank Stella at Mnuchin Gallery, and new work by Ann Hamilton at Carl Solway Gallery. The anticipated thematic group shows include “Louise Bourgeois and Gaston Lachaise” at Cheim & Read, “Women Collagists of the Twentieth Century” at Pavel Zoubok Gallery, and “Conceptual Photography from the 1960s and 70s” at Pace/MacGill Gallery. ADAA is also delighted to welcome five first time exhibiting galleries, Bortolami, Alexander Gray Associates, Yancey Richardson Gallery, Salon 94, and Julie Saul Gallery.
Proceeds from the Art Show Gala Preview on March 4 and daily admission to The Art Show from March 5 – 9 benefit Henry Street Settlement, one of New York City’s best-known and most effective social services agencies. For the third year, global art insurance specialist, AXA Art Americas Corporation will serve as Lead Partner of The Art Show 2014. The AXA brand is a recognized leader in its field globally. AXA was recently named one of the top 100 Best Global Brands, and for the fifth year in a row, ranked #1 global insurance.
