VEVEY.- The visual arts festival IMAGES in Vevey (Switzerland) features monumental photography exhibitions by renowned artists – including a new urban project from French artist JR, realised in coproduction with the Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne. From September 4th to 26th, the city situated at Lake Geneva will be entirely dedicated to the Image. It will also present the winners of the two competitions it organises – the European First Film Awards and the Vevey International Photo Awards.
Entirely free, the visual arts festival, Images, produces open-air installations and indoor exhibitions in various locations dedicated to the image every two years. The festival presents the works of about 100 contemporary artists and, during three weeks, turns the entire city of Vevey into a museum for visual arts.
Open-air: Images festival is the first Swiss open-air visual arts festival dedicated to photography. To mark this ambition on the international scene, the Images festival will present a new urban project from the artist JR created in co-production with the Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne.

Indoor: The Images festival installs an ephemeral museum in a former shopping mall and collaborates with the Jenisch Museum, the Swiss Camera Museum, the Historical Museum, the Photography School of Vevey and Espace Quai N°1 that will present monographic exhibitions.

International competitions
Every two years, the Fondation Vevey ville d’images offers supporting grants in the fields of photography and movies; these competitions offer among the highest rewards in Europe, with grants totalling more than 100’000 CHF (around 70’000 Euros). Today, every edition of the Vevey International Photo Awards attracts more than a thousand candidates from all over the world. The works created thanks to these grants are exhibited at Images festival.
