BARCELONA.- Kathrin Golda Pongratz presents the photographic series Landscapes of Pressure in the Foyer of the Fundació Joan Miró.
The images by Kathrin Golda Pongratz show the agricultural lands of El Prat de Llobregat during the negotiations over the possible construction of Eurovegas on this land.
On display from 21 January to 18 May 2014, the photographs are a reflection on territorial policies, processes of urban development and the productivity of a territory in its multiple facets. On 1 February, at 12.30 h, the artist will make a public presentation of the exhibited works.
In 2012, while the negotiations on Eurovegas were taking place, Kathrin Golda Pongratz photographed various landscapes subjected to urban pressure, such as the agricultural lands of El Prat de Llobregat. On display in the Foyer of the Fundació, the photographs present the richness of this peri-urban landscape and show some of the elements of pressure generated by the surrounding infrastructures.
The exhibited works are large-format colour photographs, accompanied by a mosaic of small black-and-white photographs. The images have been taken with a Rolleiflex twin lens reflex camera, hence the landscapes are all photographed from a viewpoint below eye level.
Kathrin Golda Pongratz’s photographic work is closely related to her practice as an architect and town planner. Her photographs have been exhibited and published in Peru, Argentina and Germany. As an academic, she lectures at the Escola Superior d’Arquitectura La Salle of the Universitat Ramon Llull, Barcelona, and at the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt.
In 2012, on the occasion of the exhibition Joaquim Gomis: From the Oblique Gaze to Visual Narration, the Fundació converted part of the Foyer into a space dedicated to photography exhibitions. The exhibition policy for this space is to alternate shows of Joaquim Gomis with the work of photographers who, like Gomis himself, practise this activity in parallel with their profession.
